Survive secures essential funding from Postcode Neighbourhood Trust

Funding contributes to delivery of specialist services to survivors of sexual violence

Survive, a specialist charity that helps survivors of sexual violence rebuild their lives has received a grant of just under £20,000 from Postcode Neighbourhood Trust, the grant-giving charity funded by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Survive offers specialist counselling and support work to adults across the City of York and North Yorkshire who have experienced sexual violence including rape, sexual assault, Child Sexual Abuse as well as grooming, sexual exploitation and the coercive sexual control often present in abusive relationships.

Says CEO Mags Godderidge: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this grant. Since the start of the pandemic, demand for our specialist services has increased significantly. This grant will help Survive help even more survivors rebuild their lives, relationships and reach their potential and help Survive continue to deliver a safe, quality service.”

Survivors do not need to report the crime to the police to access Survive’s specialist services and they can access support for recent crimes as well as those committed a long time ago such as Child Sexual Abuse. Visit www.survive-northyorks.org.uk/make-a-referral/ or call 01904 638813 to enquire about counselling or support work.

Specialist support is also available on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4pm to 8pm for the survivors of sexual violence as well as their parents, partners, carers, friends and other family members on freephone 0808 145 1887.
