£30 for 30 years – Appeal launches as Survive reaches 30-year milestone

Survive has reached its 30-year milestone and is asking friends and supporters to each donate or fundraise £30 to help them help more survivors of sexual trauma.

Says Chief Executive Officer, Mags Godderidge: “We know this is a big ask in these extraordinary times, however, we also know that survivors still need to access the specialist services we offer during and beyond this current Covid19 crisis. We will use the funds raised from this special 30-year appeal to deliver more support to more survivors of sexual trauma to help them rebuild their lives, relationships and reach their potential.”

Survive started in 1990 as a survivor-led support group for women who had experienced child sexual abuse. Three decade later and Survive now offers support to all adults who have experienced sexual trauma – including rape, sexual assault, child sexual abuse as well as grooming, sexual exploitation and the coercive sexual control often present in abusive relationships. Last year alone, Survive helped over 500 survivors.

Says Survive’s founder, Ruth: “Survive has achieved so much since the first seeds were sown three decades ago. For those with experience of sexual abuse, the legacy leaves a long and difficult road to travel. Sadly, the need for the vital support and services Survive provides to aid people on that journey is as great as it ever was – perhaps even more so in these challenging times.”
