Why Volunteer?
Survive depends on its volunteers to keep going, and in return we can offer you initial and ongoing training in
a range of issues, a chance to meet people, and to make a real difference to our callers.
People on counselling courses at certificate and degree level can use volunteering on the Helpline for
their placement.
Volunteering
Frontline
The Frontline Volunteer's role in Survive is to provide a helpline service, one to one meetings and self-help
groups. These volunteers are co-ordinated and supported by a Service Co-ordinator.
All volunteers are trained through a comprehensive training programme which runs twice a year, around October and March. The programme lasts for
two evenings and four weekend days, and covers issues around child sexual abuse, rape, sexual assault and listening skills. Personal
development and support are both features of the training.
No previous experience of this kind of work is necessary as everything you need to
know will be covered at the training.
