Project Manager’s Report

This year has seen Survive continue to develop and work towards providing a professional service which follows the highest of ethical standards both as service providers and as a voluntary organisation. I would like to recognize the hard work put into this by Survive staff and trustees as we strive for excellence.

Survive’s profile in the community has continued to grow. Survive staff have provided training for Homestart on the long-term effects of child sexual abuse and working with disclosure. I facilitated a development day for Mainstay, York mental health service users. In addition, I gave a talk on ‘Being with-Thriving not Surviving’ at a time out day for psychiatric services in York. We have also had input to the Voluntary Sector Forum for Mental Health action plan to highlight counselling services.

I have continued my involvement in The Survivors Trust and attended a parliamentary lobby day in London. In September, the first Cross House meeting took place to begin to address the issues facing survivors of child sexual abuse. These are exciting times and our hope is very much that we facilitate a national strategy, raise the profile and awareness of the issues and ensure appropriate services are in place and adequately funded.

I would like to thank all our funders and in particular the wonderful support we have received from all our donators.

“Since I’ve been seeing my counsellor, I have significantly reduced the number of inpatient admissions I’ve had, both to A&E and the local mental health hospital”
