This
year has witnessed the growth and development of a ‘new look’ Survive.
The suspension of ‘access’ to services for the first months of the
financial year allowed the team the space and the time to audit and
review existing systems. This saw the introduction of new structures,
facilitating our move towards a quality service, at all times striving
to deliver the level of service our ‘service users’ ask for and
need.
Some of our achievements this year
include playing a lead role in The Survivors Trust, being a Keynote
speaker at a conference for the Selby and York PCT and the forming of a
multi agency steering group encompassing survivors, public, statutory
and voluntary sector participation (addressing the needs of survivors
of child sexual abuse and the provision of a male service). Most
importantly we have supported hundreds of requests for support and
continue to have 2,000 contacts with people annually.
As I move into our second year, I
acknowledge the need to continue to raise funds to both safeguard
existing services and develop new ones, pursuing all opportunities in
securing funding from both statutory and non-statutory services. The
development of a three year rolling business plan and a funding
strategy will support our aims and the Jewel that is ‘Survive’ to shine
brighter for years to come.
As Ghandi so rightly stated “ Be the change you want to see
in the world.”

“I
use Survive from time to time; I
support a friend. Sometimes I don’t know what to do but I find Survive
is always excellent
both in terms of the
information offered and the
support for me.”
