In 2003, Survive received funding from Lloyds TSB Foundation in England
and Wales to offer an Information Service. In November, we were
employed on a job share basis to deal with enquiries from the public
and disseminate information in a variety of ways.
During the ensuing months, we have been expanding and updating our
databases and information on local, regional and national resources
relevant to child sexual abuse. Health professionals, members of the
public, family and friends of survivors and Survive service users, have
accessed this information. Enquiries are on a variety of topics
including services available for male survivors, funding, alternative
trading systems for unemployed service users, as well as information
about Survive’s services.
A job share enables each of us to utilize our particular skills and
interests. Antonia has been designing and developing a Survive web
site, due to launch in July 2004. A variety of information will be
found on the web site ranging from organisational information to
generic information on child sexual abuse and other related health
issues. In addition to this, there will be other useful links
regarding existing services for survivors and their families to provide
a ‘one-stop’ information channel for users.
Karen edits and publishes the Survive newsletter, Transitions, Survive
publicity material and the Annual Report.
We anticipate that the web site will increase our contact with the
general public and raise our profile. Hence, the provision of the most
uptodate and accurate information is one of our major goals as
information workers for Survive.
